River and Maggie: The Rescue Dog Friendship That Became Family

Sometimes the perfect adoption story involves two dogs instead of one.

River, a Border Collie/Jack Russell mix, had everything she needed except one thing: a canine companion. Though deeply loved by her family, she often seemed lonely.

Then Maggie entered the picture.

Arriving from St. Croix as a lively puppy with a big personality, Maggie immediately captured hearts.

When River’s family arranged a meet-and-greet, the connection was instant. The two dogs chased each other around the yard, played together, and quickly established a friendship that felt meant to be.

Soon after, Maggie officially joined the family.

Today, the pair are inseparable. Maggie embraces her role as the mischievous younger sister, while River provides a calmer, protective presence. Together they spend their days running, playing, and exploring.
